Sangam Dairy is one of the most renowned and trusted dairies in South India. Sangam Dairy was the first Guntur Co-op Milk Union in 1977, wherein small and marginal dairy farmers in and around Guntur District began a cooperative movement. Later, Guntur Co-op Milk Union became a body corporate as Sangam Milk Producer Company Ltd (Sangam Dairy) in 2013.
What once started as a small union has now spread across various states of South India, processing milk and milk-based products, sweets, beverages, savories, spices, bakery products, and many other products. This satellite dairy, with a 1.5 lakh liters per day capacity at Miryalaguda, Telangana, is a formidable and trusted brand in its areas.
Sangam Dairy is known for adapting to changing technological demands. They believe in upgrading and upscaling their equipment. After taking an old dairy setup in Miryalaguda, they planned to revamp the entire dairy from a manual to a fully automated plant. They wished to achieve all of this without changing the existing plant structure.
This new setup was required to process 2LLPD of milk which would further be expandable to 3 LLPD. This plant is designed to process milk and milk by-products like milk pouch, curd, buttermilk, etc. With a goal to achieve within a stipulated time, Sangam Dairy approached Neologic Engineers, their most promising process engineering solution provider. As Sangam Dairy is associated with Neologic Engineers for over a decade, they have always been Sangam Dairy’s first choice.
Neologic Engineers took up the challenge and designed the plant per Sangam’s requirements. They not only set up new equipment but also refurbished a few existing equipment like storage tanks.
This Miryalaguda plant was a unique combination of the green and brownfield project, wherein Neologic Engineers had to establish a new setup in an old building without any major civil changes.
One of the challenges with this project was the pre-defined space for every piece of equipment. Another challenge was that Sangam was not planning to make any major changes to the building’s infrastructure. With the area already being defined, the Neologic Engineers team had to design the plant accordingly and customize every piece of equipment as per the allotted space.
The revamping plan of an entire old manual dairy into a fully automated dairy was seamlessly achieved with the help of Neologic Engineers. In just six months of time, they could start with the production. Their production costs and labor costs were also significantly reduced. They could also ensure 100% hygienic conditions for their products.
“The Neologic Engineers team designed the entire plant in such a way that met our expectations and space constraints. They not only provided latest automated equipment like milk handling and processing units but also refurbished and reused the existing equipment as per our needs. We are now successfully running the plant for processing of milk and milk by-products like milk pouch, curd, butter milk, and so on.”
